ABSTRACT
This article examines conservation burdens as part of an emerging stewardship paradigm in Scots property law and considers the implications for doctrine and practice. It argues that the conservation burden has the potential to be a useful device for placing stewardship obligations on a landowner, but this would require legislative reform and changes to the approach of the Lands Tribunal for Scotland.
