ABSTRACT
This paper examines the role of smart contracts in e-commerce and the industry’s supply chain. An overview of smart contracts functionality illustrates its automative, decentralized, and transparent characteristics. Use cases in e-auctions, product grading systems, and cost evaluation highlight how smart contracts promote efficient flows of information and resources. Applications for e-commerce logistics include automatic shipping tracking updates and decentralized inventory-sharing systems. Although smart contracts offer benefits by eliminating intermediaries and increasing trust, barriers to adoption exist through inconsistent legal frameworks and skepticism around blockchain. Findings suggest that blockchain platforms must improve interoperability and environmental impacts to make smart contracts an accessible technology. If smart contract adoption persists, the effects could revolutionize e-commerce by automating logistics and participating in a transparent, secure digital marketplace.
