The reform of defamation law in Northern Ireland has been a long awaited and much-contested issue since the introduction in England and Wales of the Defamation Act 2013 (the 2013 Act). We last discussed this issue as part of our Defamation update in March, which can be accessed here. Since then, and after much consideration and significant amendments to the draft bill, the Defamation Act (Northern Ireland) 2022 (the 2022 Act) was enacted on 6 June 2022.
