ABSTRACT
In modern realities, the idea of theft has transcended from mere moving or causing to move, properties belonging to a known person into a more abstract phenomenon than it used to be. These possibilities have broadened the horizon of intellectual property to include IP theft which as far as many are concerned, such concept does not exist. Thus, it is important to enlighten the public on the difference between use and infringement of intellectual property rights, as well as constantly educate them on the right way to go when using a work belonging to another person. This research focuses on copyright protection in graphics under the Nigerian legal system as it complies with global best practices on the subject. It recommends that the legal framework on intellectual property rights protection be more effective especially, with the rise in unjustified exploitation of protected works, so as to encourage authors whose creative ideas have in a great way contributed to the growth and development of both commerce and industry in the country.
