ABSTRACT
The birth of new innovations and technologies has ushered in the Fourth Industrial Revolution. This revolution has created new opportunities for consumers, but also new challenges and concerns. This Note explores how consumer law should respond. There are three approaches to consumer regulation: laissez-faire, paternalism, and consumer autonomy maximization. While the European Union has remained committed to an approach of consumer autonomy maximization, Brexit presents the United Kingdom with the opportunity to tailor their approach specific to the challenges at hand. This Note evaluates where a tailored approach may be more beneficial to solve certain challenges posed by the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
