ABSTRACT
In the information society, European law has extended its influence to global dynamics. The rights to privacy and data protection are paradigmatic examples of extending fundamental rights protection beyond EU borders. To fully understand this tendency, it is necessary to develop some premises regarding the dynamic force of the European fundamental rights to data protection and privacy in the digital world and the cleavage between the European vision and the US version of the right to privacy online and data protection.
